In our fast paced ever changing world in which we live there are things Americans need to remember as they live their day to day lives. Hopefully, it will cause us all to travel a higher ground. This collection will be growing on a regular basis.
]]>I posted the video because I believe it speaks volumes to what is happening now in America. If it does not speak to you I strongly suggest you start paying attention to current events and American history.
]]>It is time for our country to start using common sense and stop playing into the hands of those that use emotional rhetoric. Gun control is not taking away your guns it is an attempt to keep guns out of the hands of those who may not be emotionally mature, mentally ill, or with criminal backgrounds. I believe the main concerns is that it is time to stop the sale to the public of military grade weapons like the AR-15. There is only one use for that type of weapon and that is the mass killing of people. Many people will come up with other uses but they only make sense if you don't think and don't deal with reality. THE TIME IS NOW AMERICA, THE TIME IS NOW!

I'm Black, But I'm Not...

I'm writing this because I feel there are some things that just need to be said. First, "BLACK ON BLACK CRIME". Yes it would be great if black people would not victimize/kill other black people but let us be real and put this in perspective. "WHITE ON WHITE CRIME" has not and will never be used as an excuse for anything and it will never be used to oppress white people. Every race, culture, and religion has people who engage in criminal behavior. Basically, other races kill each other too, it is called murder and it is part of what is called crime. The people who stand up and say that blacks are being hypocritical when they speak out/protest shootings/killing of unarmed black men are doing a true disservice to those who are taking action for change especially when you know the history of our country and the relationship of black communities and police.
We talk about all the socioeconomic factors that lead to blacks killing blacks, I say again let us put this in perspective. There are a lot of us who live in/have lived in and under the same conditions that black people who have killed black people. There is one factor here that stands out to me, regardless of how oppressed, low self esteem, rage or anger is being experienced, that factor is CHOICE! A black person made a choice to kill another black person. The only time anyone has the right to kill anyone is when they are PROTECTING THEIR LIVES OR THEIR LOVED ONES FROM SOMEONE WHO IS IN THE CURRENT ACT OF TRYING TO KILL THEM. Fearing for your life and actually defending off an attack are two different things. BLACK PEOPLE MAKE THE CHOICE NOT TO KILL EACH OTHER I would love to see this because it would mean we would be leading all other races, religions, and cultures that have not done it.
RIOTS and MEDIA COVERAGE. Really!

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 1:00 PM, outside of the NYS Department of Labor at 215 W. 125th Street, New York, NY, Organizing For Action and volunteers are holding a grassroots event calling on Congress to raise the minimum wage and expand economic opportunity for millions of hardworking Americans. We should all be able to agree: if you work full-time in America, you shouldn't have to live in poverty. But the reality is, a minimum wage worker has a yearly salary of just $14,500. Even after accounting for programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit, a family of four supported by a minimum wage worker still ends up living below the poverty line. (source: OFA)
I truly believe this is a matter that we all need to support. During my lifetime I have seen the minimum wage raised and it did not lead to the "END OF THE WORLD", "ECONOMIC DISASTER", or "MASS UNEMPLOYMENT". Simply put, raising the minimum wage puts a little more money into the hands of those who will spend it on food, clothes, health care, and housing. I think the word that is most often overlooked is the word "SPEND". Minimum wage workers who support themselves, not to mention supporting others as well, need their money to survive.
Ask yourself, "How am I doing on what I make?" then ask yourself, "How would I be doing if I made minimum wage?" ASK YOURSELF! I'll see you Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 1:00 PM outside of the NYS Department of Labor at 215 West 125th Street, NY, NY.

When people work together beautiful things can happen and if this is true the stage has been set for a beautiful work of art to be created by the Latino Make Up Show.
Carlos Otero, CEO and Founder of Latino Make Up Show, Rosie Rodriguez, Executive Director of Latino Make Up Show in conjunction with Elline Surianello, owner of Lemetrics, Keny Nunez Herrera of the Hostos Education Project , and Antonella of Antonella's Barber and Hair Salon have banded together to utilize their abilities as one. In addition to mentoring, educating, and training people in the fields of cosmetology, modeling, entrepreneurship, and beauty related fields the group intends to reach out to those living with life changing diseases to help them see that they too can be part of this industry and be beautiful. As we all know debilitating diseases can be the lowest point in a person’s life. Diseases like cancer can stop a person in their tracks. Part of the Latin Make Up Show’s mission is to reach out to people, like cancer patients and their families, and show them that a successful life can still be had.
Why move in this direction? Carlos Otero has traveled the world and from his vast experiences he has realized that those suffering from devastating medical conditions did not know about the beauty options available to them or didn’t have the means to maintain a beauty regimen. Mr. Otero decided it was time to make a stand and shine the light and become a beacon for the beauty industry.
All involved with this movement should be applauded and wished much success. If you would like to get involved/help this non-profit organization they can be contacted at [email protected].

The first person who leaves a comment that states which subway station and line you will find this art you will get a 30% discount on any purchase you make from NuView Gallery.
]]>Pain, athleticism, endurance, discipline, and drive are a few words that come to mind in us all when we think of a marathon. On November 3, 2013 the New York City Marathon was held. Another great parade in New York City which showed off its cultural diversity. I am talking about the 2013 African-American Day Parade held in Harlem between 111th St and 136th St on 7th Ave, on September 15, 2013. It was a great parade that featured familiar political faces, marching bands and numerous organizations. The parade was viewed by a diverse crowd of New Yorkers and tourists who enjoyed every moment of the parade.
]]>The parade commemorates the 192nd anniversary of Central America's independence which was declared on September 15, 1821.
